Fire Season is coming Quickly!
Weeds are already starting to turn brown and will become combustible hazards very quickly. Make sure you have a plan in place to remove or mitigate the fire hazard. The Board of Directors passed Resolution 22-03 Establishing the Existence of a Public Nuisance - Weed Abatement, on March 24, 2022. All weed abatement and hazardous combustibles must be mitigated by May 1, 2022. After the deadline, a property owner can be cited and the District may have a private contractor complete the work and the cost of mitigation will be placed on the property tax bill. If a fire occurs on the property the property owner can be responsible for the suppression costs. Learn More by Clicking HereCDBG PUBLIC NOTICE post.docx
Illegal Fireworks at Kerman Elementary School
A 10 year old student brought these to school to show his friends. After further investigation, these Illegal Snap Caps were sold at store in San Francisco – China Town. This is the first time seeing this type of Illegal Snap Caps, it looks very similar to a fire cracker. Conducted a field test, and these are louder than the legal ones & have a much larger explosion. The State Fire Marshal (SFM) / Arson-Bomb Unit was notified of the purchase. Please read more on legal fireworks in California and always look for the SFM Seal on box.
The parents had no idea they were illegal , since they bought them at a store in SF. Kerman PD officer & the Fire Marshal educated the student and parents that no fireworks (Legal or Illegal) are allowed on school campus.
